Science Diplomacy Course – Spring 2019

The Spring 2019 edition of the “Science Diplomacy: Environmental Security in the Arctic Ocean” course was co-taught by Prof. Berkman at the Fletcher School and by Professor Alexander Vylegzhanin at MGIMO University in Moscow via videoconference. The course featured a shared classroom environment where students from both countries can learn together and collaborate on projects.

The course involved a 3 days long negotiation simulation between the students at the Fletcher School and MGIMO University, epitomizing science diplomacy in practice. The negotiation simulation resulted in the signing of the “2018 Moscow-Medford Mock Ministerial Declaration”
