2nd Global Indigenous Youth Summit on Climate Change – August 9, 2024

The second GLOBAL INDIGENOUS YOUTH SUMMIT ON CLIMATE CHANGE (GIYSCC) will be held 9 August 2024, circling the Earth with the Sun across three 8-hour time zones in 24 hours (00:00 GMT – 24:00 GMT) on the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE WORLD’S INDIGENOUS PEOPLES, hosted by Future Earth with Science Diplomacy Center™ coordination.

This “virtual dialogue by, for and among Indigenous youth with global inclusion” builds on GIYSCC-2023 that was hosted by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) with 1300+ registrants from 112+ nations across 88+ languages and partners globally, including a legacy contribution with the invited Nature Commentary that Indigenous Youth Must Be at the Forefront of Climate Diplomacy.

GIYSCC emanated with Indigenous Youth Leadership through the Science Advice Skills Development Program (SASDP) that was initiated by the International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA- Africa), stemming from an idea about a “Global Indigenous Youth Summit on Climate Change” that was introduced in an Indigenous youth circle at the 2022 University of the Arctic (UArctic) Assembly in Portland, Maine.

GIYSCC-2024 registration is invited with global inclusion. A few participant slots are still open for Indigenous youth presenters.

Please contact the GIYSCC-2024 Indigenous Youth Leaders for additional details.
