The 9th Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum 2024) was convened at the United Nations in New York on 9-10 May 2024.
Prof. Paul Arthur Berkman was in New York during these dates at the invitation of the German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New York to discuss chapter contributions among authors and editors with an upcoming book on Science Diplomacy in an Era of Technological Disruption. On 10 May 2024, with the STI Forum 2024, DWIH New York also convened a side event about Strengthening the Science-Policy-Society Interface.
Prof. Berkman’s brief visit to New York was made most special with the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya to the United Nation, building on collaboration that began in 2017 with the 2nd International Dialogue on Science and Technology Advice with Foreign Ministries. Ongoing dialogue about science diplomacy as a ‘language of hope’ and informed decisionmaking for the benefit of all on Earth across generations was part of these meetings, including with Prof. Berkman as a guest to attend the STI Forum 2024 at the United Nations on both days with science, technology and innovation at the heart of our sustainable development at local-to-global levels.
