- The United Nations has launched the Global Indigenous Youth Summit on Climate Change (GIYSCC) to be held on 9 August 2023, circling the Earth virtually across three 8-hour time zones in 24 hours on the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples early in the 2022-2023 International Decade of Indigenous Languages. This global dialogue is being convened by, for, and among Indigenous youth (in contrast to elders), welcoming next-generation leaders inclusively from around the world.
