Education-Research-Leadership Triangulation: Insights for Science Diplomacy

On Thursday, 29 October 2026, Professor Paul Arthur Berkman will share observations about lifelong learning with negotiation skills during the Fall School of Science Diplomacy 2026, hosted by the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) with its Institute for Advanced Studies in Ben Guerir, Morocco.  The presentation will utilize the concept of synergies that emerge with triangulation of education, research and leadership.

EDUCATION involves K-12 learning, but can begin at any stage with clarity and curiosity to ask questions.  RESEARCH involves rigorous approaches to answer questions with methods that generate data to interpret, considering natural sciences, social sciences and Indigenous knowledge.   LEADERSHIP comes from translating data into evidence with actions to build common interests and make informed decisions.

The journey to triangulate education, research and leadership is inclusive (who, what, when, where, why and how) from childhood, through higher education into professional contributions.   Science diplomacy and informed decisionmaking deliver outcomes from such triangulation with hope and inspiration “for the benefit of all on Earth across generations”.
